About This Game Recruit. Explore. Control. Two years after Commander Shepard repelled invading Reapers bent on the destruction of organic life, a mysterious new enemy has emerged. On the fringes of known space, something is silently abducting entire human colonies. Now Shepard must work with Cerberus, a ruthless organization devoted to human survival at any cost, to stop the most terrifying threat mankind has ever faced. To even attempt this perilous mission, Shepard must assemble the galaxy’s most elite team and command the most powerful ship ever built. Even then, they say it would be suicide. Commander Shepard intends to prove them wrong. Just like in the previous game, what you say to the other characters matters a great deal. Fortunately, the conversation system has been improved. The camera now pans around characters as they talk to one another to evoke a dramatic, cinematic feel. Also, Shepard can interrupt the conversation when given the appropriate prompt, taking situations into new directions that could help or hinder the mission.Shepard is more customizable than ever, letting you create your ideal lead character — gender, facial features, class, and of course, attitude. Once you embark on missions, you’ll be treated to an improved battle system that lets you target weak points and blast off your enemy’s limbs with a variety of weapons.Set out to lead your team to victory… or die at the hands of The Collectors. Either path is possible in BioWare’s smash hit, Mass Effect 2. Which destiny will you choose?Features:The second act of BioWare’s epic sci-fi trilogy continues the story of Commander Shepard and humanity’s first steps onto the galactic stage Success – or failure – depends heavily on the crew you assemble and their loyalty to you and the mission Stunning graphics and a refined dialog system will draw you into the story like never before Numerous improvements to the intense, third-person shooter combat Deep character customization options let you create your own vision of Commander ShepardOnline DisclaimerEA ACCOUNT, REGISTRATION WITH ENCLOSED SERIAL CODE, INTERNET CONNECTION AND ACCEPTANCE OF END USER LICENSE AGREEMENT REQUIRED TO ACCESS ONLINE FEATURES AND/OR SERVICES. If you havent played the original Mass Effect, this game is still a must play. You wont be lost as to whats going on, as long as you check out the codex section on the in-game menu. This game is AMAZING and the story line, voice acting, graphics and overall gameplay are all impressive. This game is ahead of its time, dont miss it.From the ominous opening music, until the final decisions through the Omega-4 Relay are made, the perfection builds every step of the way. Sure, there are many cinematic games that play like a novel and are fantastic but Ive never been pulled into a game with a "need to play" like ME2 has done. The diversity of the characters and backstory make you feel as if this universe has been developed for a long, long time, and you are only now being introduced to it. The characters make you care about them with their depth, and this increases moreso as the game goes on. I've never experienced anything like it, and Bioware really set the bar with dialogue and character interaction. The "choices' you are given never feel like lines from a bad movie, like so many games, but are believable and accurate to the story and what you intended to say.The game itself is an exciting RPG/3rd Person Shooter. When you start you can choose from a few classes. Some are excellent at biotic powers and some are just for shooting things the old fashion way. I chose soldier and because of that I had very little biotic powers. I could slow down time but that's about it. The biotic side of the game for me was my crew mates. You level them up along with yourself when you gain squad points. As you add skill points to a skill it becomes stronger until you reach full potential then you have two versions of it to choose from. The gunplay in the beginning of the game was a little boring but it became really fun once you were able to upgrade and get new versions of your weapons. That added a lot of depth to the combat. There are also different types of ammo to use that increases your weapons attributes. Nothing is more satisfying then freezing an enemy an watching them implode. When a game ropes you in, like this one did for me, and creates that yearning to play, the developer has done their job. This game plays like an epic film, but one that creates a universe that I think is on par with any of the great space-epic movies and tv series, and that alone is something. This game is a pivotal point for me in regards to gaming, and it has changed the way I will evaluate and appreciate all games in the future.Simply put, one of the best game I've ever played.... The fanboys are not lying this is one of the best games ever made, at 8 years old it still holds up especially if you install ALOT MOD. I hate third person games in general, this game is so good the 3rd person view doesnt bother me like it does for the witcher and others.I hope Bioware can revive the series to its original standards of greatnessStory : 10Controls: 9Graphics/Sound/Music: 10Lore: 1010/10. Probably the best story told through a game in the past decade.. Quick Summary: The Mass Effect games are third person shooters with an RPG level-up system and a dialogue system where you can choose conversation responses, similar to Fallout, Dragon Age, Shadowrun, etc. The entire franchise is (or should be) a pillar of video game history and is well worth playing, not only for what they got right, but also as examples of what developers should not to do with their video game, such as whacky DLC schemes. In Mass Effect 2, you play Commander Shepard a human trying to prepare the galactic community to take on the Reapers, an advanced race of sentient starships that cleanse the galaxy of organic life every 50,000 years. You don’t know why they do this (and you won’t find out until the end of Mass Effect 3) but they are terrifyingly powerful, and most of the galaxy doesn’t believe they actually exist. The story will take you all over the galaxy in your trusty star ship, scanning for precious minerals (to buy upgrades) and unravelling the mystery of the Collectors, who seem to be doing the Reapers’ dirty work. The game has a ton of space politics and diplomacy, in part because the backstory is so rich. Every alien race you encounter has history that affects how they see you and how they see each other. In other words a bunch of them hate each other and would rather focus on fighting their neighbors than preparing for the coming Reaper threat, which may or may not exist. If you haven’t played the first Mass Effect game, never fear, because there’s a “motion comic” at the beginning that not only recaps the events of Mass Effect 1, it also lets you “customize” small parts of the story. For example choose who died/survived or how you resolved certain moral choices. The game also allows you to customize your gameplay experience right from the start. You can choose to have all the conversations scripted, basically watching the non-action portions of the game as mini-movies so you can concentrate on kicking butt during missions. Or you can have the combat missions be super easy, and just focus on the storytelling/dialogue choices. The third option is the “normal” experience where you choose your conversation options, and fight the battles the way they were meant to be fought. It can be a pretty hard game at times, especially if you’re like me and refuse to spend medical supplies reviving your fallen squad-mates during fights. The combat gameplay is third person shooter with 2 health bars, one for life and one for shields. The shields regenerate over time, but health does not. There are a lot of weapons to choose from throughout the game, set up and upgraded between missions. You don’t pick up guns from the dead bodies of your enemies like Call of Duty, just ammo. Fortunately, almost all the guns use the same ammo, so go ahead and experiment with various loadouts to find what you like best. The alternative to weapons is “biotics” which are the “magic powers” of the game. Depending on your character class, you (and your team) can throw around energy blasts with varying effects, for example some damage health but not shields, or do extra damage to armor, or telekinetically lift enemies in the air only if they don’t have shields. You gather about a dozen possible teammates by the end of the game, all with varying abilities, and you can bring any 2 of them along with you on each mission. Note that team members cannot revive you if you are gunned down, but you can revive them. You should play Mass Effect 2 if:+You enjoyed Mass Effect 1. This game is basically better in every way.+You like futuristic stories with fleshed out characters and backgrounds. You can read about the history of alien cultures and listen in on conversations that NPCs are having in the background. Many of your little eavesdropping’s lead to mini-quests or just useful hints.+You like games where you can romance your teammates. Your romantic partners are limited by what gender you made your character, and some of them are aliens, but maybe you’re into that. You should not play Mass Effect 2 if:-You don’t like long games. Even if you skip a bunch of side missions and avoid talking with your teammates, it will still be over 20 hours long. Fortunately you can press the space button to “skip through” lines of dialogue a lot of the time. You still need to choose your replies though.-You’re just looking for a brainless shooter. This game is at least half talking, exploring city hubs, learning background story, and deciding whether to play a good guy (paragon) or a badass (renegade).EA, the game’s publisher recently made the DLCs available to buy as a package, which is great because there are a few good ones, and for years players could only purchase them with special “coins” in the EA shop. Some of the DLC are free if you connect to a server in-game called “Cerberus Network” (you get the key automatically with the Steam version of the game).Overall, definitely give the game a try if you like action games with RPG components. Whether you’re a pc gamer or a console player, you’ll be missing out if you haven’t tried the Mass Effect series. Unfortunately, the third game Mass Effect 3 is not available on Steam.. The best Mass Effect in my opinion. MAss Effect 3 is basically just the ending of Mass Effect 2 and it's just so epic!. I am huge Mass Effect trilogy fan - no question they have some flaws but I am totally blind to notice them. I played all 3 games in a row - one of the best times spent playing games. Top 10 of all times and strongly recommended.. My review on the first Mass Effect game racked up a bit of a following, so I though I might try a review on the second one. And while I'm at it, I will give out my opinion on the third one, too, as it isn't avaliable on Steam and I can't write a proper review on it anywhere else than here. Well, here it goes. Here's a bit of backstory; When I first heard about Mass Effect, it was just after the third game came out, and everyone was pretty irritated about the ending. I thought, "Hey, this game looks pretty cool, despite what seems to be a pretty ♥♥♥♥♥♥ ending." And thats all I did. I thought. It wasn't till late 2016 that I got a beefy PC, and thought now was a good time to play all the games that I wished I could play earlier but couldn't get the chance to. I bought a few games here and there, but then thought about that game that had an amazing cult following and sexy alien lovemaking. So, I got on here and bought the first two games. All I want to do now, is to spread the love of this game to newcomers, to get people involved with the series. One of the biggest mistakes you could ever make in your career of casual game-playing. would be to skip this series, and not enjoy its marvelous story, characters, and atmosphere. The second one, for me, was amazing. The humor continued excellently, the characters grew in the best way possible, and the story branched out, making it an even better Space Opera. The edition of Squad loyalty missions was a huge improvement, making your journey with your characters sincere and meaningful. Characters from the first game made a comeback too, but some came back changed and different. And if you were sensible and played the first one first, and brought over your save so you could continue your journey to its fullest extent, then you have, quite possibly, the best Space-Action, Story-Driven, Romance-Fueled, Humor-Filled tale around. As for Mass Effect 3, its biggest flaw, for me, was not playing it on Steam. I had to go and download Origin, had to once again come up with a password that I will likely forget in a few months, and buy the game on a platform that I don't know how to use. But it was all worth it. Mass Effect 3 is, in my opinion, really special. It was the end of the trilogy, and the Reapers (You will all be saying that word in Javik's accent soon enough, don't worry) have finally arrived, and Shepard's story comes to a close. Mass Effect 3's story was exciting, it had all the loveable crew back, and ended the series, in my opinion, perfectly. I won't spoil it for all of you that haven't played it yet, but the ending, depending on your actions, can be either bittersweet, or out-right terrible for everyone in the galaxy. But at the end of the day, the ending is tailored to you, and the choices you picked for Shepard. Due to the ending, the music, the conversations, the story, the romance, and DLC (Even though all the DLC costs more that the game itself, and unrightfully so), made this game my favorite in the series. Please, all of you that have not played Mass Effect, please go play it. It went from being a series that I had heard about, but never really took the time to play, to being my favorite series ever. And to all the people that have played them all, go back and play 'em again. It's worth it. Andromeda is around the corner, and it couldn't hurt to go back and refresh your memory. I'll hopefully see you all in Andromeda!Overall Rating: The whole series deserves a 10. Wouldn't want to miss this experience for anything.. Still one of my fav RPGs alongside Kotor 2 and SkyrimSo much content to keep you playing and you'll def have multiple playthroughs. Still better than 3 and Andromeda. This is basically one of the last good Bioware / EA games before greed took over X.X 10/10 Dicking down Miranda
